DVD Review: Bel Ami

Directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod with screenplay by Rachel Bennette, Bel Ami is a British period drama based on the 1885 French novel of the same name written by Guy de Maupassant.

Premiered as an Official Selection at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, the film chronicles the life of Georges Duroy (Robert Pattinson), a penniless ex-soldier who travels through 1890s Paris, rising to power through his manipulation of the city’s most influential and wealthy women – Madeleine Forestier (Uma Thurman), Virginie Rousset (Kristin Scott Thomas) and Clotilde de Marelle (Christina Ricci).

‘Bel Ami’ Starring Robert Pattinson Gets US Release Date

Released in the UK earlier this month, Magnolia Pictures has announced that they are to distribute 1890s Paris set period drama, Bel Ami, and that they have now set a US theatrical release date for the film which stars British actors Robert Pattinson and Kristin Scott Thomas and American actresses Uma Thurman and Christina Ricci.

TV Spot & 19 New Images of Robert Pattinson in ‘Bel Ami’

Here’s one for the girls, with a whole 19 new images of Robert Pattinson and a new TV spot for his latest film, Bel Ami, this week.

Directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod with the screenplay written by Rachel Bennette, Bel Ami is a period drama set in 1890s Paris. Pattinson plays the character of George Duroy, a penniless ex-soldier, as the film chronicles his rise to power through his manipulation of the city’s most influential and wealthy women, played by the likes of Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Robert Pattinson Talks ‘Bel Ami’ And Says He’s Too Old to Return to Twilight

At the premiere for his upcoming film Bel Ami this week, Twilight heart-throb Robert Pattinson told Reuters that he would be too old to play his vampire character Edward Cullen again if Stephenie Meyer was to write a fifth novel.

Making his first appearance as the ever-youthful vampire back in 2008, when Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment released the first out of five films to be adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling novels, Pattinson has since a big name for himself.

Films To Look Forward To In 2012

2012 has only just begun, and we’re already talking about some of the amazing films that are set to be released over the next year. With many anticipated films that have already been released in the US that we are yet to see, to the many Marvel films that we are frantically waiting for, we won’t be short of great films to put on the ‘to see’ list. Let’s not forget Peter Jackon’s The Hobbit as well, of course.

‘Bel Ami’ Starring Robert Pattinson Is Coming To The US

Robert Pattinson‘s (The Twilight Saga) latest film, Bel Ami, has found an American distributor this week, meaning that this Paris based period drama will be arriving in US theaters early next year.

Sony Pictures Worldwide has bought the rights to distribute this UK, French and Italian production, which is directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod and based on a French novel of the same name, written by Guy de Maupassant in 1885.

Robert Pattinson’s Earlier & Upcoming Films

We all know the Robert Pattinson of the Twilight Saga which began in 2008. The Edward Cullen that teenage girls drool over (I being one of them). But I’m much more interested in his roles in other work. His lead role as Tyler Hawkins in Remember Me, released on DVD this week, a heartbreaking tale of love and family relationships. His appearance, and death, as Cedric Diggory in the even more popular Harry Potter (And The Goblet of Fire) franchise in 2005. So I decided to do a little research into other films he has been in, or is currently in production of, to set myself, and possibly others, a small playlist of films to watch over the summer.
