With Valentine’s Day coming up, this week I have three infographics to share. This second post comes from The Unplag plagiarism checker team, who have thoroughly studied 18 of the most popular love stories to compare the different ways in which a romance can end – on paper, at least.
The infographic is full of spoilers, obviously, but it’s really interesting to see what classic books have the same ending in common.
The 18 novels chosen include Romeo and Juliet, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Cyrano de Bergerac, Madame Bovary, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Anna Karenina, The Master and Margarita, Gone With The Wind, Thorn Birds, The Great Gatsby, Love in the Time of Cholera, The Phantom of the Opera, The Bridget Jones’s Diary Series, The Notebook, The Twilight Series, and The Fifty Shades of Grey Series.
The six endings these novels all fall under are: death, marriage, children, staying together, separation, and unrequited love.
It’s amazing how few end with unrequited love, and how most end with either death or separation, which is actually quite depressing.
