More Casting News for ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’

(Written for Filmoria)

We’ve had quite a bit of casting news for the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, this week.

A few days ago it was announced that Colin Farrell has joined the cast, and now comes news that Brooklyn actress Jenn Murray and casting call winner Faith Wood-Blagrove have come on board, too.

Based on another of J.K. Rowling‘s novels which is set in the Harry Potter universe, 70 years before the events of The Philosophers’ Stone, the plot follows the life of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), who writes the Hogwarts schoolbook ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, as he’s trying to track down magical creatures in the wizarding world.

Farrell will play Graves, a fellow wizard Newt meets in New York, Murray’s part is currently unknown, and 10-year-old Faith Wood-Blagrove will be making her on-screen debut, after she won a global casting call to play a character named Modesty.

Directed by David Yates (who helmed the final four Harry Potter movies), the film will also star Ezra Miller as Kredan, a rival to Scamander, Dan Fogler as a muggle, Katherine Waterston as an American witch named Tina, Alison Sudol as her younger sister Queenie, and Josh Gad and Michael Cera are also in talks to play another of Scamander’s rivals, Jacob.

The casting is really shaping up into something excellent for this one, but then who wouldn’t jump at the chance to star in another Harry Potter film? I, like many others, really can’t wait for this.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is scheduled to be released on 18th November, 2016.
