Helsinki Poem

3am but still no stars,
The nights are awake,
From the drinking in bars.

Big city lights,
And the hustle of feet,
Movement is seen,
But their sounds are discreet.

People walk,
But the streets are silent.
The only echo is of the crossing’s siren.

Hands are held and arms are crossed,
Bodies shift quickly to avoid the frost.
