The main thing people want to see when they go to Norway is the fjords, thousand feet drops into water running throughout the country. With it being winter, we had the difficulty of most of the boat tours being out of service, and the remaining options being too expensive or taking too long. We really wanted to visit Flam, the next best thing to a fjord, but our rail passes didn’t cover our travel and with it being our last week we just couldn’t afford The Flam Railway. So we headed to a small town called Voss, which is where many fjord hikes begin. We may not have been on a thousand foot edge, but the views we saw were certainly on par.
Even before we got to Voss, the Bergen line on the train had some of the most amazing views.
So, arriving in Voss, the firs thing you see is a massive lake surrounded by mountains. It was the most beautiful thing I have seen on this trip, and it really was just breathtaking.
At the end was a small woodland area with a pathway to follow.
Then we found a little bridge to cross which led us into a lovely neighbourhood.
