Day 13: Gothenburg

imageToday meant the awful waking up time of 4am! All for our train to Gothenburg, back in Sweden. The train journey took around 5 hours which included an hour stop over in Malmo, so an early day meant we had a full day to see the town, from the pictures Gothenburg looked like a small, quiet old town with lots of harbours so I was really looking forward to seeing it. But whilst I wasn’t disappointed, it wasn’t what I expected, as it had some of the biggest shops out of the cities we’ve seen so far. But we did find there nicer parts of town, which made up for it.

Wilst at the station, a helpful lady recommended that we buy an all day tram ticket, so we took advantage of this’d by riding on the tram for ages and seeing how far out it would take us.

Whilst walking, we saw a high bit of land with a castle-looking building on top so it looked like the right place to head.

There were some lovely views from the top.

On the way down, we found a much nicer part of town with cobbles streets and no traffic. It was definitely my favourite part of Gothenburg.

But it soon started getting dark so we made our way back to the centre.

After fall that walking, we treated ourselves to one of these bad boys. It was 89DK, around £9, but that’s not much more than a McDonalds here and it was a real burger, so it was allowed!
