With an ensemble cast already checked in to Wes Anderson’s upcoming The Grand Budapest Hotel, news this week confirms that Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan is set to play the female lead in the period picture.
Already starring Anderson regulars Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, and Jason Schwartzman, as well as a number of brilliant new additions including Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp, The Grand Budapest Hotel is shaping up to look pretty fantastic.
Following this year’s brilliant Moonrise Kingdom, details are very minimal for Anderson’s latest project, but what we can tell you is that the film takes place in 1927 in a Hungarian hotel, with some of the film, if not all of it, being filmed in the Hungarian capital to fit in with the title, and that one character is a psychic.
Ronan, known for her roles and incredible performances in films such as Atonement, Hanna, and The Lovely Bones, is a great addition to the cast and I think she will really fit the Wes Anderson style of cinema making that the director is so acclaimed for.
With filming set to begin in Germany very early next year, we could find see the release of The Grand Budapest Hotel by the end of 2013, whilst Ronan will next be seen in an adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer’s The Host, which opens 29th March, 2013.
