(Written for Lost In The Multiplex)
A brilliant new trailer for director Steven Soderbergh’s psychological thriller Side Effects has been released this week, starring an encouraging ensemble including Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, and Jude Law.
Reuniting the director with his Contagion screenwriter Scott Z. Burns, the film follows a troubled young woman named Emily (Mara) who develops a dangerous love triangle between her doctor (Law) – who prescribes her a drug intended to treat anxiety but which has unexpected side effects – and her newly paroled husband Martin (Tatum).
The new trailer looks pretty intense and promises strong performances from all of the leading trio, with both Tatum and Mara proving themselves to be incredibly talented actors over the past year, with Mara taking the lead in the English remake of The Girl With Dragon Tattoo and Tatum having standout performances in 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike.
Also starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Side Effects is set to be released on 8th February.
