(Written for Lost In The Multiplex)
In an interview with Mark Millar last weekend, the comic creator revealed that the sequel to the 2010 superhero film, Kick-Ass, is to start filming in the next few months.
Speaking with the Daily Report, Millar commented that, “We shoot Kick-Ass 2 and American Jesus this summer.”
Although he didn’t give any solid confirmations, the writer implied that the original Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn would also be involved somehow, but it is more likely that he will be producing the film since he announced last month that he will be directing the next X-Men film.
So, without any current director or stars attached to the film, and with the original film’s studio, Lionsgate, making no announcements confirming whether or not the film will go into production, it’s hard to comment on anything else.
Will Chloe Moretz even return as the young ass-kicking Hit Girl from the original film, whom this sequel is supposed to focus on? Everybody seems to have bigger things on their plates since the first film, with Moretz doing really well for herself after starring in Matt Reeves’ remake of Let the Right One In and in Martin Scorsese’s 3D family adventure, Hugo.
So until we hear more, it’s all a lot of guess-work from here.
