The first full-length trailer for the British teen-drama Skins has been released this week. From fighting to, well…more fighting, the new footage shows the cast in a number of situations from the whole series. And what a lot of drama we are in for.
Skins, created by father and son television writers Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, portrays the lives of a group of teenagers living in Bristol, aged 16-18, during their two years in sixth form. This latest series reunites us with the third generation cast who we first met in series five, which includes Franky (Dakota Blue Richards), Alo (Will Merrick), Rich (Alexander Arnold), Mini (Freya Mavor), Liv (Laya Lewis), Grace (Jessica Sula), Nick (Sean Teale) and Matty (Sebastian De Souza).
Series six of the show, which airs in the UK tonight, opens with the gang on holiday in Morocco before term stars. The new series also introduces us to newbie Alex (Sam Jackson), but as E4 have commented, the holiday “turns into a living hell” and that “by the time they arrive back to Bristol everything has changed forever. Friendships fall apart while complicated and toxic relationships begin. And there are strangers in the mix who could either save or destroy them.”
The new trailer shows us what’s to be expected from the whole series in comparison to the first trailer promoting only episode one. Here we see a lot more partying, with brief clips of everybody seemingly kissing everybody and then everybody seemingly fighting with everybody. Maybe not quite a realistic portrayal of teenagers, but it looks like we’re in for a lot fun.
More intriguing, however, is the revelation that one of the party-heavy cast is pregnant, but whose will it be? Nearly-married Grace and Rich’s? Or maybe it’s Franky’s as we see a clip of her in bed with an unknown person after losing her virginity over the summer. We’ll have to watch to find out, as it could be anybody’s from the looks of their promiscuous behaviour.
The first 5 seasons are already available on Netflix, and I would highly recommend watching the first two of them, at least, if you haven’t already. Season 6 will hopefully be available in the US soon, but until then here’s the new trailer:
