A set of promotional photos have been released for Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie by Entertainment Weekly this week.
Frankenweenie tells the story of Victor, a boy who brings his dog back to life through the magic of science after it is killed in an accident. Sounds a little depressing, but then it’s Burton’s gothic side that makes us all such a fan of his work.
“It just tries to keep that idea of a very, simple pure relationship,” he says. What’s more pure than the story of a kid and his first pet?”
The photos, which can be seen here, show Burton at work as well as images of Victor and his dog.
Originally made as a live-action short by Burton, which got him fired as an animator for Disney in 1984, Frankenweenie is now being released as feature-length animated film, and by the same company that found it “too weird” to release all those years ago too.
The film stars the voices of Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara and Martin Short, with Victor’s character is rumoured to be voiced by Charlie Tahan, and is set to be released on 5th October, 2012.
