When Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger defeated Lord Voldemort and brought the wizarding world back into safe hands, we thought it was all over. But today, Target has released a lengthy preview of BAFTA award-winning Morgan Matthews‘ documentary, When Harry Left Hogwarts, filmed during the making of the final Harry Potter films, The Deathly Hallows.
The documentary features new behind-the-scene shots of the final battle at Hogwarts and unseen interviews with the Harry Potter cast, including Daniel Radcliffe (The Woman In Black), Rupert Grint (Wild Target), Emma Watson (My Week With Marilyn), Emma Thompson (The Boat That Rocked), Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech), Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Robbie Coltrane (Ocean’s Twelve), as well as many others.
This 47-minute long documentary allows us to hear the personal stories of the faces we know, and of those we don’t. One clip in the trailer shows the trio being transported with bags over their heads to avoid attention from the press. With more scenes like this, we are sure to be in for a treat as Matthews takes full advantage of his unprecedented access.
With the end of one of the most successful eras in cinema history, it’s nice to have something else to clutch on to. I wish the curtain never had to be closed, but this documentary really is a goodbye to Hogwarts.
When Harry Left Hogwarts will be sold exclusively in the US on a 4-disc Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Blu-ray and DVD set released by Target, which you can buy here from 11th November.
Whilst the UK have rights to release the documentary as well, no details have yet been given as to how or when this will happen.
