Welcome To The Punch – Film Review

Written and directed by Eran Creevy, Welcome To The Punch is a British thriller that follows detective Max Lewinsky (James McAvoy) who, along with his partner Sarah (Andrea Riseborough) and scarred by his failure to bring down his nemeses, is given one last chance to catch the man he’s always been after, as ex-criminal Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong) is forced to return to London from his Icelandic hideaway when his son is involved in a heist gone wrong. As they face off, they start to uncover a larger conspiracy at work, one that they both need to solve in order to survive.

Cloud Atlas – Book vs. Film Review

“What is an ocean but a multitude of drops?”


Published in 2004 and written by David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas is a science-fiction fantasy novel consisting of six nested stories, spanning from the 19th century to a post-apocalyptic future. Having read the book, one of my favourite pieces of literature, its adaptation was one of my most anticipated films of this year. Released this month, written and directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer, it was thought that Cloud Atlas was an unadaptable story because of its complex structure. But how wrong we were. Cloud Atlas, instead, shows us how marvellous cinema can be when it pushes itself beyond all limits.

Bryan Singer Tweets More ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Set Pics

Director Bryan Singer has been thinking in 140 characters or less again this week as he tweets yet another set picture from his upcoming sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past as production on the film approaches closer.

Recently using the social media site to break some of the casting news for the film, and only last week sharing an image of the wheelchairs for the young and old versions of Professor X, this week Singer has revealed a photo of a familiar set that fans will recognise from the past X-Men films.

New ‘Ender’s Game’ Image: Meet Hailee Steinfeld as Petra Arkanian

A new image has been released for Gavin Hood‘s Ender’s Game this week, an adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s novel of the same name.

From a script Hood has adapted himself, the film is set in the near future and follows a young strategist, Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), who is drafted by the International Fleet to hone his military skills and hopefully save the human race from an impending alien invasion by a race known as the Formics.

David O Russell to Direct Jennifer Lawrence AGAIN In ‘The Ends Of The Earth’

New International Trailer For Neil Jordan’s Vampire Thriller ‘Byzantium’

This month sees the release of the new international trailer for Neil Jordan’s vampire horror-thriller Byzantium, and it’s looking a lot better than you might have first imagined.

Adapted from Neil Gaiman’s novel, The Graveyard Book, and scripted by Moira Buffini (Jane Eyre) from her own stage play, the film follows Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan as a mother-daughter vampire team who sometimes pose as sisters.
