The Avengers DVD Extras: Hilarious Gag Reel Plus Deleted and Extended Scenes

(Written for Lost In The Multiplex)

August has seen the release of a number clips from the DVD and Blu-Ray extras of this year’s summer blockbuster, Avengers Assemble, and today we have a selection of the latest clips that will certainly get you pre-ordering this one if it isn’t at the top of your to-buy list already.

The first clip is a deleted scene from when The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) falls from the S.H.I.E.L.D. hellicarrier to earth, waking up in a pile of rubble as an elderly security guard looms over him.

Whilst we see some of the exchange between Harry Dean Stanton’s character and The Hulk in the film, the new clip shows us a little bit more from the couple’s exchange, with Stanton asking Ruffalo an important question, “Are you a big guy that gets all little, or a little guy that sometimes blows up large?”

This fundamental question persists throughout comic book lore – is the Hulk just the raw manifestation of Bruce Banner’s suppressed inner fury, or is the mild-mannered scientist the true identity?

The other extended scene then sees Loki (Tom Hiddleston) discussing with Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) the deeper reasons for the villain revealing himself to the people of Earth, and the four-minute gag reel shows some hilarious footage of the film’s outakes.

You can view these two videos here.

Written and directed by Joss Whedon, the action adventure stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Cobie Smulders, Clark Gregg and Samuel L. Jackson.

Look for more deleted scenes on The Avengers DVD and Blu-ray, out 25th September.
