Anthony Hopkins Climbs Aboard The Ark for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

(Written for HeyUGuys)

The cast for Darren Aronofsky‘s Biblical retelling of Noah just keeps getting better and better, with Sir Anthony Hopkins becoming the most recently announced to board the ark.

Hopkins, best known for his role as Hannibal, will play Noah’s grandfather, the 900-year-old Methusaleh, who dies seven days before the Great Flood.

Already starring Russell Crowe as the Biblical ark builder Noah, Jennifer Connelly as his wife Naameh, Douglas Booth as his son Shem, Emma Watson as Ila, a young woman who develops a close relationship with Shem, Logan Lerman as Noah’s other son Ham, and Ray Winstone as the film’s villain, Aronofsky tweeted on Monday (9th July) that:

Aronofsky’s follow-up to the highly acclaimed Black Swan, Noah is expected to start filming later this month, and is scheduled to open in theaters around the US on 28th March, 2014.

curiously speaking – why is Logan Lerman playing Ham and not Japeth or Shem? Ham is supposed to have had a mother of African descent. I know in the old days almost all of the Biblical characters of color were portrayed by caucasians in makeup that bronzed their skintone.

However, in this day and time only a fool would be convinced that there were any “lily-white skinned” people living in that region of the world unless their skin had been ravaged from leprosy or some other disease.

Most people are sick and tired of being deceived and manipulated and most young people resent the arrogance of filmakers, documentarians and others who insist on perpetuating these types of myths. So, this is not a complaint, just an observation.

As for Sir Anthony Hopkins–he is such a profound talent, he coud play anyone he wants, including the late, great Frederick Douglas!!! [I'd actually like that-um huh!]
